Purpose:

As a Business Development Manager for Ocean Transportation, you will take ownership and responsibility for managing clients' ocean transportation needs for both inbound and outbound traffic. Your primary goal will be to improve market share and position GXPO as a recognized brand in Dubai. As part of the Commercial team, you will work towards the combined corporate goals of the organization, specifically focusing on the Ocean Business Unit (BU), and contribute to its overall development. You will be expected to reach agreed targets in terms of gross profit, volume, and revenue, while ensuring that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed both internally and with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management: Take ownership of clients’ ocean transportation needs, ensuring efficient and reliable service for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Market Coverage: Improve market share and position GXPO as a leading brand in Dubai.
Commercial Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Commercial team to achieve corporate goals, with a specific focus on the Ocean BU.
Target Achievement: Meet or exceed targets for gross profit, volume, and revenue.
SOP Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOPs internally and with clients to maintain high service standards.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

Country/Commercial & Ops Structure: Understanding of the country’s commercial and operational structures.
Market Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the freight forwarding industry.
Pricing Procedures: Familiarity with pricing procedures and desks involved in business tenders and RFQs.
Customs Documentation: Knowledge of import and export customs requirements and rules.
Local Market Service Requirements: Understanding of the service requirements in the local market.
Ocean Freight Services: Knowledge of ocean freight services and competitors’ activities.
UAE Regulations: Understanding of UAE import and export regulations.

Relevant Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the freight forwarding industry.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and business growth in a competitive market.
Strong understanding of ocean freight operations and regulations in the UAE.
